Teaser Tuesday (May 11)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

I haven’t managed to do much reading this week, so I don’t actually have a new book to share. However, since #1b1t is still going and American Gods by Neil Gaiman is topical, I’ll go with another teaser from a different page:

“A sniper at the top of the hill took careful aim at a white fox, and fired. There was an explosion, and a puff of cordite, gunpowder scent on the wet air. The corpse was a young Japanese woman with her stomach blown away, and her face all bloody. Slowly, the corpse began to fade.

The people continued up the hill, on two legs, on four legs, on no legs at all.”

— p.442, American Gods by Neil Gaiman.

What are you reading today?

  1. This sounds weird.

  2. Thanks for this teaser — it makes me want to re-read American Gods. If you like the theme of “gods in America,” you might like Chabon’s Summerland, too.

  3. I really liked this book, although I agree with one review that I read of it calling it an “unholy mess.”

  1. No trackbacks yet.
