New Beginnings Wednesday (July 7)

New Beginnings is a weekly event hosted by MizB at Should be Reading. It’s all about your New Years’ Resolutions! Everybody knows that these are really hard to stick to, so why not encourage each other in our efforts? Why not enlist the support of our online friends?

So, here it is…

  • First — post your list of New Years’ Resolutions in a post at your blog.
  • Second — every week, on Wednesday, write a new post about how you’re doing with each of your goals … you’ll have to list them, again, each week, as people won’t remember what you’re working towards, otherwise. Be brief in your updates, as there may be several blogs to visit!
  • Third — after you’ve written your update, visit Should Be Reading, and share your link so that we –the other New Beginnings participants– can stop by your blog and encourage you!

Important! … It would be absolutely great if you could visit at least ONE other participant’s blog  on Wednesdays and leave a comment on their post to share some encouragement for their efforts! Show your support! That’s what this event is all about — standing by each other to finally reach our goals!

My goal: to try to be more consistent, and finish what I start. In particular…

  1. Write 1000 words or more per day. I decided not to do JulNoWriMo this year, even though I was going to: SoCNoC kind of burnt me out creatively. However, there are a few short story competitions I’m thinking about entering, so I’ve been preparing for them.
  2. Read at least 100 books this year. Eleven books behind, but working to catch up. Current total: 39/100.
  3. Dazzle my professors with my research essays. I’ve been doing really well with my research recently; instead of researching a little bit every few days, I’ve found a way of getting myself to research a little every day (hint: rewards are good), which has resulted in some progress at last. Which is good, because my presentation is due soon. Eek.
  4. Brush up on my languages. Final French lesson this week; then a holiday week, and on to Beginners II. Yay!
  5. Turn The Black Sheep into a functioning (popular?) blog. I’m working on a new domain name and website. I may also have the opportunity to visit a book launch soon, so keep your eyes peeled for some great new content!
  6. Start exercising more. New running shoes are fantastic. Back to running regularly again. Go me!

    You have some great achievments listed. I wish you success in meeting them. I’ve recently made tremendous strides on the health and exercise front. Eating mostly raw and vegan has allowed me to lose weight and eliminate toxins from my body, plus given me more energy. It is a little difficult to follow at first, but the more you learn, the more routine it becomes. Great site, keep it up!

  1. I didn’t even know there was a JulNoWriMo; guess none of my online friends decided to do it, either. 🙂

    Yay for running! I’m hoping to ramp up my own soon.
